Vulture’s Peak and Nalanda
Vulture’s Peak is a hill listed in Buddhist canonical texts as one of the places stayed in by the Buddha while he was at Ragjir.
We ventured up the peak when there was a slight drizzle of nectar which reminded us of how Lord Buddha used to preach to his disciples there during the rainy seasons.
His second sermon such as Prajnaparamita was taught without utterance. Through the power of meditation, he inspired the teaching and later seals the teaching in approval of Avalokiteshvara expounding the words to Shariputra.
Other sutras such as Lotus Sutra and Diamond Sutra was taught there. And it was mentioned in Lotus Sutra that a prilgrim could still eccounter Buddha at this location. Inspite of the common sight of beggars, dust and dirt, the Buddha has described our current world as a Pure Land ready to be experienced by practitioners with devotion and superior motivation.
